Environmental Leadership
Australia

Australia has the resources, people and technology to benefit from the global shift to net zero. The opportunity to create an investment and jobs boom from low-emissions technologies, especially in rural and regional areas, should not be missed.

Environmental Leadership Australia (ELA) is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organisation championing community and political leadership on climate change. We work constructively to advance practical, evidence-based climate and environmental policy to ensure a prosperous future for all Australians.

Climate action is not just an issue for one side of politics - it requires all of us. We specialise in supporting climate leadership among community leaders and political leaders, both emerging and current, from conservative backgrounds. These leaders have been previously underserved by traditional environment and climate groups.

Reducing emissions is complex and requires long-term planning. Between 2022 and 2050, Australia will have 9 federal elections and around 48 State and Territory elections. This means the only viable pathway to sustainable, lasting support for climate action is bipartisanship.

Bipartisanship allows business and communities to make their own decisions based on policy certainty, without fear that a future Government will unwind progress after the next Election. Working towards bipartisanship on climate policy is a core focus of our work.

Building bipartisan support for bold, evidence-based climate policy for a prosperous Australia.
